Make a simple torn paper ornament craft for kids using basic supplies. This easy Christmas craft is easy for preschool and elementary kids.
There is something so cozy about sitting at the kitchen table on a chilly December day with a warm drink and a pile of craft supplies. My kids always get excited when I say, “Let’s craft today!”
This torn paper ornament craft is one of those activities that feels calm, creative, and easy all at the same time. It doesn’t require fancy supplies or a long setup, which makes it perfect for busy families.
I love watching my kids make this art project. There’s something magical about letting them tear paper into little pieces without worrying about perfect cuts or straight lines. They get to explore textures, practice fine motor skills, and use their imagination as they layer colors together. Every single ornament turns out different, and that’s what makes this craft so special.
Another thing I love about this craft is that it works for every age. My younger child likes to tear big chunks of paper and cover the whole ornament as fast as possible. My older child takes her time choosing colors, arranging patterns, and adding her own creative touches. No matter how they make it, the ornaments always end up looking beautiful.
This is also a great craft to do in a classroom or with a group of kids. It’s simple, it’s low-mess, and it doesn’t require a lot of supplies. You can even pre-tear the paper to make it go faster for large groups.
And let’s be honest, this craft is also a wonderful way to use up leftover paper scraps. I always have bits of construction paper, scrapbook paper, and even last year’s wrapping paper tucked away somewhere. Instead of throwing them out, we turn them into something fun and festive. It feels good to reuse materials while creating something.
