Easy Torn Paper Ghost Craft for Kids

Make an easy Halloween craft with this torn paper ghost craft. Just print the template, tear paper, glue, and add eyes. A perfect Halloween activity for preschool and elementary-aged children.

Looking for a simple Halloween craft that kids will love? Try this torn paper ghost. It’s a fun way for young kids to get creative while working on fine motor skills. My kids had a blast tearing paper and bringing their ghost to life.

We love torn paper crafts at our house. There’s something relaxing about tearing paper and gluing it down. It gives kids a chance to slow down and just enjoy the process. My son said it was like making a puzzle, but way easier.

This craft is also great for younger kids because they don’t need to use scissors. Tearing the paper helps build hand strength and improves fine motor skills. My daughter used small pieces, while my son used big chunks. Both ghosts turned out super cute in their own way.

You can also turn this into a group activity. We did this with a few neighborhood kids, and everyone ended up with a different-looking ghost. Some were silly, some were spooky, and some had big smiles. It was fun to see how creative the kids could be with just paper and glue.

If you don’t have black paper for the eyes and mouth, don’t worry. You can just draw them on with a marker. You could even use googly eyes or stickers.

This craft is perfect for Halloween parties, classroom activities, or a cozy afternoon at home. Plus, it only takes a few supplies you probably already have.

How to Make a Torn Paper Ghost

Step 1: Print

Start by printing the ghost template on colored paper. See link below. We used purple construction paper, but any color will work.

Step 2: Tear

Next, tear pieces of white paper into small squares. You can use plain printer paper, construction paper, or even tissue paper. Don’t worry, you do not need to tear perfect squares.

Step 3: Glue

Now it’s time to cover the ghost. Glue the torn pieces onto the ghost template. There’s no right or wrong way—just cover the shape as best as you can.

Step 4: Add the Eyes and Mouth

Cut out two black circles for the eyes and one oval or circle for the mouth. Glue them on your ghost’s face. Want a silly ghost? Make the mouth big and open. Want a spooky one? Try a surprised face.
