This gingerbread house craft lets kids design their own house. They can color it with bright candy colors, draw extra details like Christmas lights, and glue the pieces together to build their paper house.

My daughter had so much fun making this 3D gingerbread house craft. She started by coloring all the pieces with bright reds, greens, and browns. She added little details like lights on the roof. Once everything was colored, she carefully cut it out and began to put her little house together.

She used a glue stick for the project, which worked well but took a little patience. She had to hold each edge together for several seconds to make sure the glue dried enough to stay in place. If your child doesn’t like waiting, tape might be an easier option.

When the house was finished, my daughter was proud of her creation. She added it to her miniature collection where she keeps other tiny crafts and treasures. It looks adorable next to her small paper trees and snowmen.

How to Make the Gingerbread House

Step 1: Print
Print the 3D gingerbread house template (link below) on white cardstock. Cardstock works best because it’s thicker and helps the house stand up. You can also use regular paper.

Step 2: Color
Use crayons, markers, or colored pencils to decorate your house.

Step 3: Cut
Cut out all the pieces along the dotted lines.

Step 4: Fold
Fold along the light gray lines. These folds will help you shape your house and make it easier to glue together.

Step 5: Glue Together
Add glue to the tabs marked “glue.” Press the edges together and hold for a few seconds to let the glue set. If your child doesn’t want to wait for the glue to dry, try using tape instead.
