My son loves, loves, loves dinosaurs. He has a ton of dinosaur toys. He even dressed up as a dinosaur for 4 years for Halloween.

My son loved this dinosaur eye craft. He loves how realistic the eye looks.

To make the dinosaur eyes, we used a glass dome and magnet set purchased at a craft store. I included an Amazon link below.

You could also use glass filler stones for vases as long as they have a flat back. Sometimes, these can be found at the dollar store.

The glass stones that we used were 1 inch in diameter and had a flat back.

The hardest part for my son was choosing colors for the eye. We made one that is green and purple and another one that is black and yellow.

To paint the back of the eye, we used an iridescent bronze and iridescent gold acrylic paint because that is what we had on hand. You can use glitter paint or any paint you have.

Dinosaur Eye Magnet Instructions

Cut a small teardrop shape from the construction paper. Cut a small oval from the other color of construction paper.

Make sure these shapes are smaller than your glass stone. You want to see the top and bottom of the glass stone.

A glass disk, a small oval yellow construction paper and a smaller black oval yellow construction paper.

Next, glue the small teardrop shape to the oval shape. My son used a glue stick.

The small black oval was glued to the top of the yellow oval made from paper.

Then, glue the oval shape to the flat side of the glass stone. (You will need to put glue on the front of the paper oval shape, so you can see both colors through the stone). My son used a glue stick for this as well.

The yellow and black paper oval was glued to the back of the glass disk.

Next, paint the flat side of the glass stone (the back of the stone) around the paper oval eye. We used an iridescent acrylic paint. Let dry completely.

The back of the glass disk with the yellow paper oval glued to it was painted a gold color.

Then, glue a magnet to the flat side of the stone. Let dry completely.

Hang your dinosaur eye magnet on the refrigerator and enjoy.
