Paper Plate Ladybug Instructions

Using a pencil, draw a triangle wedge on the paper plate.

Paint the paper plate red, except do not paint the triangle wedge.

Paint the triangle wedge black. Let the paint dry completely.

Cut half a circle from the black construction paper. This will be your ladybug’s head.

Cut your chenille stem into 2 small pieces. These will be your ladybug’s antennae. Roll 1 end of the chenille stems into a tiny circle.

Glue the black half circle and the chenille stem antennae to the front of your ladybug (the opposite side of the black triangle wedge). Glue part of the chenille stem antennae behind the half circle.

The ladybug’s spots will be your child’s fingerprints. Paint your child’s finger tip black. Press your child’s finger on the red paper plate. Add as many black spots to your ladybug as you would like.

How to make a paper plate ladybug

Glue 2 googly eyes to your ladybug’s head. If you have white paint or white chalk, you can draw a smiley face on your ladybug. I used white chalk.

Ways To Modify This Craft

Instead of using your child’s fingerprints for the black spots, you can use black circles cut from construction paper.

You can also paint the ladybug’s head on the paper plate instead of using black construction paper.

If you don’t have chenille stems, you can cut 2 small rectangles from black paper to use as the ladybug’s antennae.
