Halloween Mummy Jar Candle Holder Craft

This Halloween mummy jar candle holder is a mess free kids craft. I was surprised at how easy this was to make and how cute it looks on the fireplace mantel.

Halloween mummy jar craft for kids

This Halloween craft took us 5 minutes to make after gathering the supplies.

It was a perfect craft for my 3rd grader. With it being a glass jar, young kids will need supervision (just to make sure they don’t drop the jar).

We used mason jars to make this craft. If you don’t have mason jars, clean empty jelly jars will also work. I have made many crafts with jelly jars instead of mason jars.

The gauze bandage wrap that we had was wide. It was as wide as my mason jar. I didn’t like the way it looked when I wrapped it around my jar.

So I cut it in half lengthwise. This gave me a thinner strip of gauze wrap.

When you wrap the gauze around the jar, it clings to the jar. We didn’t use glue to hold it to the jar. If you want, you can apply glue to your jar.

We started wrapping the mason jar at the bottom and when I got to the top, I just tucked the end of the gauze wrap underneath another layer.

We didn’t use glue to hold the gauze wrap, which made for easy clean up and a mess free craft.

Glue 2 googly eyes on the front of the jar and that is it. It is a simple mummy jar craft to decorate for Halloween.

We placed a battery operated votive candle in the jar to make it a mummy candleholder.

Instead of placing a battery operated votive candle in the jar, you can use it as a pencil holder. Or it can be used to hold plastic utensils at a Halloween party.

Halloween Mummy Jar Instructions

Wrap the gauze bandage wrap around the mason jar. We started at the bottom. We used a 3 foot long piece of gauze wrap.

If you want, you can add a little glue to the jar. We found that the gauze wrap clung to the jar, and we didn’t need any glue. Tuck the end of the gauze underneath a layer of gauze wrap. Or you can add a little glue.

Then, glue 2 googly eyes to the front of the mummy jar.
