How to Make a Paper Plate Valentines Holder

For a video tutorial of the Valentine’s holder, please watch the YouTube video below.

Step 1: Paint

Start by painting both paper plates (only one side needs to be painted). My son painted his paper plates red and purple. My daughter painted her paper plates purple.

Step 2: Fold

Once the paint is dry, fold both paper plates in half.

Step 3: Form the Heart

Take one folded plate and slide it into the other folded plate to form a heart shape. Use a stapler to attach the plates together, but make sure not to staple the top opening. You’ll need that space to put the cards in.

Step 4: Punch the Holes

Use a hole punch to make a hole near the top of each side of the heart. These holes will be used to attach the yarn for hanging.

Step 5: Add the Yarn

Thread a piece of yarn through one hole and tie a knot to secure it. Do the same on the other side. This creates a handle so you can hang your card holder or carry it around.

Step 6: Decorate

Now it’s time to decorate! Use heart stickers, jewel stickers, or markers to make your card holder special. Don’t forget to write your name on it so everyone knows it’s yours.

I hope you and your kids enjoy making this paper plate Valentine’s Day card holder that’s perfect for collecting all your Valentine cards.
