How to Make the Heart Dog Craft
For a video tutorial on how to make the craft, please watch the YouTube video below.
Step 1: Print the Template
Download and print the free heart dog craft template. See link below. You can use plain white paper or cardstock for a sturdier craft.
Step 2: Color and Cut
Use crayons or markers to color the dog’s face, ears, and bone. Then cut out the parts of the dog.
If you prefer, use the template as a guide to cut out the shapes from construction paper. We used construction paper when making our dogs.
Step 3: Glue the Dog Together
Now it’s time to put your heart dog together.
- The Dog’s Face: Start with the large upside-down heart. This will be the dog’s face.
- Glue the Ears: Take the heart labeled “ears” and cut it in half. Glue one half on each side of the large heart to create the ears.
- Glue the Nose: Glue the small heart nose at the bottom center of the dog’s face.
- Glue the Spot and Eyes: Glue the heart-shaped spot on one side of the face. Then, glue an eye on top of the spot. Add the other eye on the opposite side.
- Glue the Bone: Finally, glue the bone under the dog’s face so it looks like the dog is holding it. The bone says, “You’re paw-some!” to add a sweet Valentine’s message.
Your heart dog craft is complete. Display it on the fridge, give it to someone special, or use it as a fun classroom decoration.
