I love decorating for the holidays. Lately, I started decorating more for Valentine’s Day. I love how red hearts can brighten a room.
These yarn wrapped hearts look good in a small decorative dish on a table.
You can also add a loop to these yarn hearts and use them as a hanging decoration.
To make these, start with a heart template (see link below). Or you can draw a heart on cardboard.
We used an empty cereal box for the cardboard. It was easy to cut and it was what I had on hand.
You can make any color hearts that you like. We used red yarn because I had it left over from a Girl Scout project. Red, pink, purple, and yellow hearts will make a festive Valentine’s Day decoration.
Next, tape the yarn to the back of your cardboard heart. Then, wrap your heart with the yarn.
When you have all of your heart wrapped in yarn, tie a knot in the yarn and tuck it behind the yarn so it isn’t showing.
If you want, you can tie a piece of yarn into a loop so you can hang your yarn heart.

How To Make Yarn Wrapped Hearts
Print the heart template. To download, click on the link: Free Heart Template
Or you can draw a heart on a piece of cardboard.
Use the heart template as a stencil, to cut out a heart shape from cardboard. I used a cereal box.
Tape the end of your yarn to the back of your cardboard heart.
Wrap yarn around your cardboard heart until it is completely covered with yarn.
If you want, you can tie a yarn loop to your heart.
