Keepsake Fall Hand Tree Craft For Kids

Your kids can create a beautiful fall hand tree with their hand. The leaves are made with your child’s fingerprints. This is a fall kids craft that will be treasured for years.

I love watching my kids craft and seeing how much they grow. My daughter was very independent with this craft. I told what we were making and she made it all her own.

She let her creativity show with this project (and I love seeing her creativity).

She traced her hand and lower arm by herself. My daughter drew a hole with eyes peering out in her hand tree. She used her yellow pastel to color the eyes because she wanted glowing eyes peering out from the hole.

She used her fingers to paint leaves on the tree, exclaiming how much she loves painting with her fingers.

My daughter then added a leaf pile under the tree because leaf piles are fun to jump in. I love hearing about her thought process while she is crafting.

My son added lots of leaves to his tree. I think he didn’t want to stop fingerpainting.

I love how a simple fall kids craft can look so different depending on who made it. I plan on saving this craft.

Fall Hand Tree Instructions

Trace your child’s hand and lower arm on brown construction paper. Cut out your child’s traced hand. This will be the tree.

Next, glue the hand tree on a sheet of paper. We used blue paper so it would look like a blue sky background. If you don’t have blue paper, you can use white paper.

Then, dip your child’s fingers in the washable paint and press down around the tree branches. Add as many leaves as your child wants.

Ways To Modify This Craft

You can trace your child’s hand and lower arm on white paper and then paint his hand brown.

If your child isn’t in the mood to get his hands messy, you can use colored dot stickers for the leaves. Your child can put the colored dot stickers on the branches, instead of using his fingerprints.
