This heart suncatcher craft looks great hanging in a window. It includes a free heart template to make this craft easy for you.
This heart suncatcher craft is so easy to make. It is made with tissue paper and contact paper.
Don’t worry if you don’t have contact paper. I have seen suncatchers made with wax paper and glue.
We made this heart suncatcher as a fun Valentine’s Day craft, but it would look great left up year-round.
These suncatchers brighten up a boring winter window. Just hang them up in a window and let the sunlight shine through.
We hung our suncatchers using scotch tape rolled up and taped to the back of the suncatcher. You could use a hole punch to make a hole and tie ribbon in a loop to hang it.
The free heart template that is used to make these suncatchers is below.

How To Make A Heart Suncatcher
For a video tutorial on how to make the heart suncatcher, please watch the YouTube video below.
Print the free heart template (see link below).
Cut out the heart template. You will also need to cut out the middle of the heart template. To cut out the middle, gently fold the heart in half and cut out the middle with your scissors.
Cut different color tissue paper into small squares. This will help young kids practice scissor skills.
Cut 2 squares of contact paper a little bigger than your heart template. Peel off the backing of one of the pieces of contact paper.
Place the contact paper sticky side up. I used painter’s tape to tape down the edges of the contact paper so it wouldn’t move while my son was working on his suncatcher.
Place the heart template with the black side facing down on the sticky contact paper.
Next, place the different colors of tissue paper on the sticky contact paper.
When finished adding tissue paper squares, carefully peel off the backing of another square of contact paper. Carefully put the sticky side down of the contact paper over your tissue paper and heart template.
Using scissors, cut around the heart template to remove the extra contact paper.
Optional: Use a hole punch to put a hole in the top of your suncatcher. Tie a piece of ribbon in a loop to hang your heart suncatcher.
I hope you enjoy making this heart suncatcher craft with your kids.

Ways To Modify This Craft
Instead of using contact paper, you can use wax paper and glue. Mix glue and water together in a small bowl. Using a paintbrush, paint the glue mixture onto the wax paper. Then add the colored tissue paper squares to the wax paper. Let dry completely.
