Camping is one of our favorite family traditions. There’s something special about being outside, away from screens and busy schedules. We love sitting around the campfire and hearing the sounds of nature all around us.
But sometimes, kids need a little extra activity during the day. That’s where a scavenger hunt comes in. It’s a fun way to keep them moving and curious. They get to explore, notice small things, and feel like little nature detectives.
When we go camping, we usually bring a scavenger hunt with us. It helps our kids slow down and really look at the world around them. They start to notice tiny ants crawling on the ground, or a patch of moss growing on a rock. Things they might normally miss.
A scavenger hunt also gives kids a goal. It’s exciting for them to check things off their list. They feel proud when they find everything.
You don’t need anything fancy for this hunt. Just print the list or write it down on a piece of paper. Give each child a pencil or crayon. You can even laminate the list and use a dry-erase marker if you plan to reuse it.
We’ve done this scavenger hunt on hikes, near the campsite, and even during walks around the campground. It works anywhere with a bit of nature. You’ll be surprised how much kids love it.
