My kids love bathtub paint. They received some for Christmas last year and they had a blast painting while taking a bath.

I wanted to try to make my kids some shaving cream bathtub paint as a way to save money.

I wanted it to be a surprise and to have it in the bathtub for bath time. However, my son caught me making it.

He was super excited and couldn’t wait to take his bath. He ran and told his sister that mom made bathtub paint.

You would have thought they just received a new puppy with their reaction. It does combine two things that they love: baths and painting.

This is a super simple bathtub paint recipe that only uses 2 ingredients. Yes, you read that right, 2 ingredients.

I used white shaving cream. We did not try the recipe with shaving gel.

I also used washable paint. I saw several recipes using food coloring, but I was concerned with it staining the bathtub.

My kids loved this paint better than the store bought. They loved that it was a puffy bathtub paint.

My son loved it so much that he wrote I love mom on the side of the bathtub.

This DIY bathtub paint for kids is so easy to clean up. When my kids were finished in the bath and before I let the water down the drain, I used the washcloth to wipe down the sides of the bathtub.

Add shaving cream to a small plastic container. Try not to fill it all the way to the top as you will need room for stirring. I did not measure the shaving cream, I added enough to fill my container 1/2 – 3/4 full.

Add several drops of washable paint to the shaving cream. Stir together. That’s it. You just made bathtub paint.

Your kids can use their fingers to paint or paint brushes. I gave my kids their old watercolor paint brushes.
