Learn how to make a clothespin patriotic wreath. This American flag wreath makes a perfect decoration for Memorial Day and 4th of July.
I got the idea for this American flag wreath craft from my library. It was featured as the craft of the month.
We made this wreath as a family because I didn’t need 3 big wreaths.
I painted the blue clothespins, my daughter painted the red clothespins, and my son painted the white clothespins. It was a nice afternoon painting with my kids.
To make it less messy painting the clothespins, we painted 2 sides and let dry completely. Then we painted the other 2 sides.
We used foam brushes and acrylic paint left over from another project. I think you can also spray paint the clothespins. I painted these with my kids, so it wasn’t too bad painting them by hand.
The finished patriotic wreath looks amazing on our front door. I think next year, I will put it out for Memorial Day, Flag Day, and Fourth of July.
I bought the wreath and clothespins at the Dollar Tree, so it was an inexpensive patriotic craft to make.

Paint the tops of the wooden stars white, if they are not already white. Let dry completely.
Then, put the 15 blue clothespins close together on the wire wreath.
Then, put 5 red clothespins and then 5 white clothespins. Keep repeating the pattern: 5 red and 5 white, until you fill the whole wreath.

Then, tie string in a loop on the back of the wire wreath. This will allow you to hang your wreath.

Ways To Modify This Craft
You can alternate the red and white clothespins in any pattern that you like. You can group 3 red together and then 3 white. Or you could use 1 red, then 1 white.
If you want to make a smaller wreath (8 inches), you would need 40 clothespins. Ten would be blue, 15 red and 15 white.
The form you have selected does not exist.
