Super simple paper plate flag craft to make with your kids. Celebrate Memorial Day or 4th of July with this patriotic craft.
This 4th of July kids craft is perfect for preschoolers and school age children. This patriotic craft will look great hanging in a window or on a wall.
This craft is a great way to use scrap tissue paper. I made this flag craft with leftover Christmas tissue paper. We even used a paper plate that had color on the other side.
Don’t worry too much about measuring the tissue paper and cutting it straight. I couldn’t tell too much that my kids didn’t cut straight when it was hanging up.

Paper Plate Flag Craft Supplies
- paper plate
- white star stickers
- blue paint
- red and white tissue paper
- glue
- hole punch
- small piece yarn or string
- scissors
Paper Plate Flag Craft Instructions
Cut the paper plate in half. Then, paint the paper plate blue. Let paint dry completely.
Next, put the white star stickers on the blue paper plate. If you don’t have star stickers, you can cut out white stars from paper (this is what I did).
Then, cut red and white tissue paper into strips. I used 4 red strips and 3 white strips.
Next, glue the red and white tissue paper strips onto the bottom of the blue paper plate alternating a red strip then a white strip.
Using a hole punch, punch a hole in the top center of the blue paper plate.
Put a piece of yarn or string through the hole and tie a loop. I used white yarn.
I hope you enjoy making this paper plate flag craft with your kids.
Ways To Modify This Fourth of July Craft
Instead of using tissue paper, you can use red and white crepe paper.
Instead of using a paper plate, you can use a piece of cardboard.
