This craft stick sled ornament reminds me of the old fashioned sleds. It is a cute homemade Christmas ornament for kids to make.
I love that this sled looks like the old fashioned sleds. Not the plastic round discs that are used today.
To make this ornament craft easier, I recommend using already painted craft sticks. My daughter wanted to paint the craft sticks, it wasn’t too messy.
This craft requires a little patience, which is why I recommend it for elementary kids. The blades of the sled will need to be held in place for a couple of minutes while the glue dries, unless you have a hot glue gun.
If you are making this craft with a younger kid and he is getting frustrated getting the popsicle sticks to stand up, you can leave the blades of the sled off.
You can decorate the front of the sled with a holiday wood decoration or a holiday sticker. We had leftover Christmas stickers from another craft.

Craft Stick Sled Ornament Supplies

- 1 short craft stick
- Red and gray paint (if using plain craft sticks)
- Paint brush (if painting the craft sticks)
- Glue
- Yarn (small piece)
Craft Stick Sled Ornament Instructions
You will need 5 red craft sticks and 2 silver craft sticks and 1 small silver craft stick. You can use already painted craft sticks (I buy mine at the Dollar store) to make this easier.
Otherwise, paint 5 long craft sticks red and paint 2 long craft sticks gray. Paint 1 small craft stick gray. Let paint dry completely.
Place the 5 red craft sticks in a sled pattern. The middle craft stick is higher. See picture below.
Then, glue the small gray craft stick horizontally towards the top of the sled. See picture.
Glue the 2 long gray craft sticks upright to each side of the sled. These will be the blades of the sled. See picture below.
Glue the yarn to each side of the small craft stick. Or you can tie the yarn to the ornament. This is how your sled ornament will hang from the tree.
If you want, you can add a holiday decoration to the front of your sled.
Hang your craft stick Christmas ornament on your Christmas tree and enjoy.
