How To Make a Leprechaun Trap
Step 1: Cover the toilet paper tube.
Wrap the toilet paper tube with construction paper. Secure with glue or tape. We used green construction paper to give our trap a festive St. Patrick’s Day look.
Step 2: Create the trap lid.
Cut out a circle from the construction paper that’s the same size as the toilet paper tube’s opening. Then, make slits in the shape of an “X” in the center of the circle. Put the paper circle on top of the cardboard tube.
Step 3: Print and decorate.

Then, color and cut out the trap decorations.
Step 4: Prepare the bait.
Glue the pot of gold decoration onto a popsicle stick. We used a green popsicle stick. Put the popsicle stick inside the toilet paper tube between the cardboard tube and the paper circle.
Step 5: Add the ladder and sign.
Glue the ladder and the “Free Gold” sign onto the cardboard tube. These decorations will entice the leprechaun to climb up and explore the trap.
How It Works:
The leprechaun will see the pot of gold and the free gold sign, and he will want the free gold. As he climbs the ladder to reach the gold, he’ll step onto the trap lid. The trap lid will give way beneath him, causing him to fall into the trap.
