Learn how to make a pinecone turkey this Thanksgiving. This is an easy craft for kids of all ages, even adults. Makes a great fall decoration.
The base of this turkey craft is a pinecone. Before starting this craft, you and your kids can take a nature walk to look for pinecones. We are lucky in that we have a park nearby that has lots of pinecones to choose.
If you don’t have pinecones outside, no worries. You can still make this with craft pinecones. I used cinnamon scented pinecones and besides making a cute Thanksgiving decoration, it fills the room with a pleasant scent of cinnamon.
Gluing the large brown pom pom to the pinecone can be a challenge if you don’t allow the glue to dry. My kids found out that if you quickly glue the pom pom (turkey’s head) to the pinecone (turkey’s body) and move on to the next step, the pom pom can fall off.
We found that if you hold the glued pom pom onto the pinecone for several minutes it will stick better. If an adult is making this craft, you can use a hot glue gun.
This is an easy kids Thankgiving craft as the feathers are placed easily into the pinecone. You can add some glue to the feathers if you like.
This makes a great DIY turkey decoration for fall. This craft took my kids less than 30 minutes to make.

Pinecone Turkey Instructions
Step 1: Stick feathers into pinecone. You can use a drop of glue to hold the feathers in place (we did not add any glue).
Step 2: Then, glue one large brown pom pom on the pinecone. This will be the turkey’s head.
Step 3: Next, glue two googly eyes on the front of the pom pom.
Step 4: Cut a small diamond shape from orange construction paper. Fold the diamond shape in half. This will be the turkey’s beak. Glue the orange triangle to the brown pom pom.
Step 5: Cut a small, thin rectangle from the red construction paper. Glue next to the turkey’s beak.
I hope you enjoy making this adorable pinecone turkey with your kids.
