Step 1: Print the template.
Start by printing out the free printable heart caterpillar template. See link below.
Step 2: Color the caterpillar.
Once you have the template, let your creativity shine. Use your favorite coloring medium – crayons, markers, or colored pencils – to add some colors to the caterpillar’s body parts. We used red and pink markers.
Step 3: Cut out the caterpillar body parts.
Carefully cut out the caterpillar body parts along the outlined edges. This step is perfect for practicing those fine motor skills and scissor skills.
Step 4: Arrange and glue the hearts.
Take the five heart-shaped body parts and arrange them on a piece of paper. This will be the base for your heart caterpillar. Experiment with different arrangements until you find the one you like best.
Once you’ve settled on the arrangement, glue the heart-shaped body parts onto the paper. We used a glue stick.
Next, glue the caterpillar’s circle head to the body.
Step 5: Attach antennae and tiny hearts.
Glue on the antennae at the top of the caterpillar’s head. Don’t forget to add the tiny hearts at the ends of the antennae – these are the finishing touch that gives your caterpillar that extra charm.
Step 6: Add a face.
Bring your heart caterpillar to life by gluing on googly eyes and drawing a friendly mouth. This step adds a playful touch to your craft.
Now, step back and admire your adorable heart caterpillar creation. I hope you enjoyed making this Valentine’s Day craft with your kids.
This easy Valentine’s Day craft is perfect for kids of all ages. Whether you’re making it in the classroom, library, or at home, this caterpillar Valentine’s craft is sure to bring smiles to everyone’s faces. Happy crafting!
