Paper Plate Horseshoe Craft for Kids

Today, we’re saddling up for some creative fun with a paper plate horseshoe craft. This kids craft is perfect for St. Patrick’s Day, summer afternoons, or horse-themed parties.

My kids and I made this horseshoe craft as part of our St. Patrick’s Day crafts. St. Patrick’s Day is associated with luck and horseshoes are also associated with luck.

We decorated our horseshoes with glitter glue, but you can use your imagination and the supplies you have to decorate your horseshoes.

Wondering when to round up the kids for our paper plate horseshoe craft adventure?

How To Make a Paper Plate Horseshoe

Step 1: Paint the plate.

Paint the outer edge of the paper plate. We used yellow paint. Let the paint dry completely.

Step 2: Cut out the horseshoe.

Once your paint is dry, cut out a horseshoe shape from the paper plate. Simply, cut out the ring and remove the top part to form the horseshoe.

Step 3: Add an edge.

Using the part of the yellow paper ring that was cut away, cut two small rectangles. These will be the upper edges of the horseshoe. Simply, glue one rectangle to each side, letting it stick out a little.

Step 4: Decorate the horseshoe.

Using jewel stickers, glitter glue or markers, decorate the horseshoe. We used silver glitter glue to add some dazzling dots.
