Blast off with this easy shape rocket craft for kids. A simple space-themed activity that helps preschoolers learn shapes while creating their own rocket.
We had so much fun with this shape rocket craft. It’s simple and great for learning about shapes. My kids love anything to do with space, so this was a hit.
To start, we gathered some basic supplies—the free printable, scissors, glue, and crayons.
We talked about each shape as we glued it down. This made it a great learning activity, too. My youngest was so excited to find and name the shapes. It’s a fun way to mix art and early learning.
After gluing everything together, the kids colored stars and planets around their rocket. They even made up stories about flying to the moon.
This craft is perfect for preschoolers and young kids. No fancy supplies needed.
We displayed our rockets on the refrigerator and turned it into a mini space display. It made the kids so proud.
If your child loves shapes or space, this is the perfect rainy day activity. Simple, fun, and educational. Give it a try—you’ll love seeing their creativity blast off.

Step 2: Color
Use your favorite coloring medium, such as crayons, markers, colored pencils, or even paint to color the shapes.
Step 3: Cut
Carefully cut out the shapes using scissors.

Step 4: Glue
Glue the smaller triangle to the top of the rectangle. This is the nose of your rocket.
Glue the larger triangle to the bottom of the rectangle (make sure the triangle is behind the rectangle). This makes the fins of your rocket.

Next, glue on the circle for a window and a star for decoration. You can add your own decorations to your rocket.
Then, glue on the flame to the bottom of the rocket.

Ways To Modify This Craft
Instead of coloring the shapes, you can use the shapes as a template and cut out the shapes from colored cardstock. Using the template as a guide, trace the shapes onto your chosen colored paper. Then, carefully cut out the shapes.
